TOP WEBSITES THAT HELP ME TRAVEL

My favourite part of planning my travels would have to be finding a good deal. There’s nothing better than stealing a deal to cut down on future travel expenses. With that being said, when looking for the best deals, there’s a few websites I trust to give me the lowest price for my accommodations, excursions, one way, roundtrip, or my most favourite, multi-city flights. You’ll be surprised what you can find!

FLIGHTS:
GOOGLE FLIGHTS, KAYAK, FLIGHTHUB & MOMONDO:
Not sure what day of the week you should travel on? From finding the best deals to knowing what day of the week, Google Flights, Kayak, Flighthub and Momondo has the best platforms and most certainly worth checking out before booking a flight. I can always find a good deal searching any of these websites.

EXPEDIA:
I’m all for reward systems. If you use this website enough, you’ll start gaining points and in return can be used towards future transactions made on Expedia. Not mention, I find Expedia’s app extremely user friendly and I can easily find my itinerary on and off internet connection.

The best part about these sites is it shows you what website/ airline company the deals can be purchased on. Please keep in mind that prices and days are subject to changes at any time.

ACCOMMODATIONS:

BOOKING & EXPEDIA:
Great for reservations and wide variety of hostel, hotels, villas options. With both websites you can choose to pay at the accommodation of choice or online.

AIRBnB:
AirBnb’s are great! The accessibility no matter where you are in the world is very helpful and cost effective when booking accommodations abroad.

EXCURSIONS:

LONELY PLANET:
Great for looking up things to do and just be in the know. Gives you advice on the best time to travel in any specific country, hotels, restaurants, visas, possible costs, and so much more.

VIATOR:
This company right here is still one of my all time favourites to book excursions ahead of time which allowed me to have the comfort of knowing that it was locked, sealed and ready for me to explore. Even though it let me down recently in Guatemala in so many ways. I decided to forgive them as everyone makes mistakes and I learnt from my last one not to mention besides that one incident Viator has never let me down when it comes unto Customer Satisfaction. To not make the mistake I did, ensure you connect with the company directly so they’re aware that they have a tour with you. Don’t solely leave it in the hands of Viator. It’s always good to double check.

BLOG PAGES:
A lot of the time the best excursions can be found on blog pages by just searching. The best thing about this is that the reviews are given directly in the blog post so you know if its of interest to you and if the company you were thinking of is the best choice.

SUBSCRIPTIONS:

NARCITY:
This is a Ontario base website that keeps you in the loop of places to visit in Ontario especially out of Toronto. I haven't travelled in Canada as much as I should. NO other reasoning than the cost to travel within Canada. I would much rather do road trips than to fly across Canada as it’s a lot cheaper. But to stay in the loop, I always check out Narcity. It is such an informative website and you’ll always know where to go from Toronto, and Road trip options.

YYZ DEALS
Toronto’s best kept secret for lowest fares in leaving out of YYZ (Pearson International Airport). If your’e all about picking the deals and not the destination, this site will do wonders for you.

SECRET FLYING
Subscribe to them on Facebook, I guarantee you won’t regret it. The constant notifications keeping you in the know is what I love best about this platform.

SCOTT’S TRAVEL
This is a recent discovery for me. I’ve never personally used the database but I receive plenty deals leaving out of Toronto. It may be of some use and worth checking out. P.s I only subscribed to the free subscription and I get over 2-3 emails a day for deals. Hoping to use them in the near future.

APPS:
HOPPER
One of my favourite apps to have on my phone that sends alerts. I’ve recently plugged in one of my travel dates in Hopper to watch a specific flight date that I wanted. Once hopper sent me an alert, I used Momondo and Kayak to check the lowest price and I was able to book. With Hopper, I don’t use the app itself to book deals but instead to let me know when the prices has dropped.

MAPS.ME
This is a recent discovery and I was able to use it in Marrakech, Morocco. Marrakech is a maze, I must admit I got lost a few times but I was able to maneuver around a lot easier using this platform than Google maps. It takes a lot or prep work in terms of downloading the maps that way it can be used when no internet connection is available but completely worth it.

Safe and Happy travels everyone!

Love,

Kissy

BOM DIA BRAZIL

Waking Up in Rio de Janeiro and Bahia RIO DE JANEIRO, RIO DE JANEIRO My first time visiting Rio de Janeiro was back in 2015. School was out and I would spend the next month and a bit backpacking South America. First up was Rio. I fell in love with this place the moment I arrived in its beauty and lets be honest my first Caipirinha. Lost in translation, not being able to communicate with most people and even with the airline loosing my luggage which meant I would spend the next few hours or days in Toga wear was all apart of the journey. From the meat (huge meat lover), the people, the environment and the vast amount of options I had at my hands, I knew I would visit again. This time I was able to journey back to Rio and for the first time, Salvador. Of course I loved it too, especially more so now that I had help! José was my voice box as he speaks fluent Portuguese. I didn’t realize until that moment how much of a difference speaking a main language in a country would...

10 PERSONAL FACTS ABOUT ME

I would consider myself a Cultural Explorer, Budgeter, Free Spirit and an Organized traveller. In other words, “I’m Frugal”, a big wise spender.  I’m a music lover and being from Jamaica you’d assume I love Dancehall and Reggae everyday and anyday. Well, Afrobeats is the filling in my oreo. I’m in love with Dancehall first, then Afrobeats then comes Reggae unless we talking about Buju Banton, he comes first. I’m a “Parents Girl”. If you’ve met them you’ll understand. I cannot choose, not that we should have to anyways. I ran Track & Field throughout my school days, mostly 100 meters. Wanting to focus more on my studies, I decided to quit after first year university and boy has it been hard to get back in the gym and running again. My favourite sport athletes are Serena Williams and Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce. Surprise I did not say Usain Bolt.  I’m a watch lover, never buy my right size online shopper, and neat freak! My car is probably the cleanest car you’l...

The Grotto: Bruce Peninsula National Park

As seen in the above photograph you probably thought I was somewhere in the Caribbean. Nope! This would be the beautiful Bruce Peninsula in Ontario, Canada. Yes! Canada. I could not believe how crystal clear the water was, it made you want to just jump in. The Peninsula genuinely took me away. I forgot where I was but then remembered oh so quickly that yes I was in Canada. The water was freezing cold! It probably took about 8 minutes if not more for my body to adjust to bear the cold so that I could stay in the water longer. Currently, the park entrance is free to celebrate Canada 150. Which means you have to arrive early if wanting to visit the Grotto. Time slots are given for parking access inside the Grotto area know as Cyprus Lake and are given to first come first serve visitors. These parking passes last for 4 hours (be sure not to spend longer to avoid ticketing).  I arrived at the park exactly at 10 am and ended up getting a 5pm - 9pm parking pass to vi...
