HAWAII SHARK ENCOUNTER

My best experience in Honolulu, Hawaii would have to be the Shark Dive with North Shore Shark Adventures Excursion.

It cost me around $130 USD and included roundtrip from a nearby hotel to the loading docks (about 35 minute drive), mask, snorkel, water, shark dive, and footage of my experience.

I must admit, I was super nervous at first. After climbing in the cage, they release the cage away from the boat. So basically the cage is being held up my a string, at least thats how I felt. Not to mention I’m not a huge fan of snorkelling mask. For some reason I hyperventilate every time I wear one. I felt like I was in the middle of the ocean suffocating. Despite my fear, the crew at North Shore truly made you feel comfortable getting into the cage and doing so safely.

I’m happy I got to experience something like this. I’m not crazy or anything but I would absolutely do it again.

The Grotto: Bruce Peninsula National Park

As seen in the above photograph you probably thought I was somewhere in the Caribbean. Nope! This would be the beautiful Bruce Peninsula in Ontario, Canada. Yes! Canada. I could not believe how crystal clear the water was, it made you want to just jump in. The Peninsula genuinely took me away. I forgot where I was but then remembered oh so quickly that yes I was in Canada. The water was freezing cold! It probably took about 8 minutes if not more for my body to adjust to bear the cold so that I could stay in the water longer. Currently, the park entrance is free to celebrate Canada 150. Which means you have to arrive early if wanting to visit the Grotto. Time slots are given for parking access inside the Grotto area know as Cyprus Lake and are given to first come first serve visitors. These parking passes last for 4 hours (be sure not to spend longer to avoid ticketing).  I arrived at the park exactly at 10 am and ended up getting a 5pm - 9pm parking pass to vi...

BOM DIA BRAZIL

Waking Up in Rio de Janeiro and Bahia RIO DE JANEIRO, RIO DE JANEIRO My first time visiting Rio de Janeiro was back in 2015. School was out and I would spend the next month and a bit backpacking South America. First up was Rio. I fell in love with this place the moment I arrived in its beauty and lets be honest my first Caipirinha. Lost in translation, not being able to communicate with most people and even with the airline loosing my luggage which meant I would spend the next few hours or days in Toga wear was all apart of the journey. From the meat (huge meat lover), the people, the environment and the vast amount of options I had at my hands, I knew I would visit again. This time I was able to journey back to Rio and for the first time, Salvador. Of course I loved it too, especially more so now that I had help! José was my voice box as he speaks fluent Portuguese. I didn’t realize until that moment how much of a difference speaking a main language in a country would...

MY TWO DAY BACKPACKING TRIP TO NICARAGUA

In the spur of the moment while visiting Liberia, Costa Rica, my travel partner and I figured we should visit Nicaragua while being in Central America. Having no clue where to go and what to do, we knew we wanted to test the waters considering the distance between the two countries. As this would be my first time backpacking, we started to ask around from the moment we got to the resort the possibility of us backpacking to Nicaragua and how safe it would be. A bit skeptical on the answers we received, we decided to backpack to Nicaragua either way. Keep in mind, there is a tour that will take you into Nicaragua from Costa Rica and back. You have the option to spend the night or just purchase the Day tour. This tour will cost you around  $160 USD or more and that was way out of our budget. We both went with $100 CAD and we were able to sustain for the 2 days we were there including our transportation. Our Journey started on a Sunday morning. We caught our first ride to th...
